Symposium 2026 - Non member

"The interplay between nutrition and brain health"

The annual symposium of the Belgian Nutrition Society will be held on 18 September 2026 in Brussels (Galilee building), a whole day dedicated to science and conviviality where confirmed experts and young researchers share their passion for nutrition.

We will have the chance to hear four keynote speeches given by outstanding scientists. In addition, slots will be offered for short oral communications and poster sessions will be organized throughout the day.

The keynote speakers will be

  • Lukas Van Oudenhove (KULeuven): Small Molecules, Big Impact? - Short-chain fatty acids as microbiota-gut-brain axis mediators of human psychophysiology
  • Amandine Everard (UCLouvain): Gut microbes and reward-related eating behaviors
  • Filippo Annoni (HUBrussels, Belgium): Energy substrates for the injured brain
  • Charlotte De Backer (UAntwerpen): From Nutrients to Narratives: Why communication about, around and through food matters for health outcomes

Even if the main topic will deal with the interplay between nutrition and brain health, the day (oral and poster communications) is however open to all other research areas related to nutrition, going from food science and technology to clinical and public health aspects.

So, save the date in your calendar and do not forget to renew your membership to the BNS,  or become member, as soon as possible to support our activities.
